P2135
Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch "A"/"B" Voltage Correlation
High· Fix promptlyIntermediatePowertrainGeneric, all makes
What it means
Electronic throttle bodies have two position sensors that should always agree. This code means their readings do not match, so the ECU cannot be sure where the throttle is and will limit power for safety.
Is it safe to drive?
Drive with caution. Expect limp mode and very limited acceleration.
Symptoms
- Reduced power / limp mode
- Hesitation
- Idle problems
- Stalling
Probable causes
Most likely first
- 1Worn throttle position sensor tracks inside the throttle body
- 2Corroded or loose throttle body connector
- 3Wiring fault
- 4Faulty throttle body
How to diagnose it
Work through these in order before buying parts
- 1Record the code and its freeze frame data (speed, load, temperature when it set), then clear it and see if it comes back.
- 2Inspect and clean the throttle body connector; check for water and pushed-out pins.
- 3Graph both TPS signals while slowly opening the throttle (key on, engine off). They should move smoothly together.
- 4Wiggle the harness while watching both signals.
- 5Check for technical service bulletins (TSBs) or software updates for your make and model; some codes have known factory fixes.
Common fixes
- Repair the connector or wiring
- Replace the throttle body and perform a relearn
