PHAD Fires the PARTS CANNON?? ('16 BMW 535xi OVERHEATS!)

My friend was driving his 2016 BMW 535xi from PA to Ohio when suddenly it started OVERHEATING!!

Luckily he was only 15 minutes from my shop, so he got his BMW towed over and borrowed the loaner 2005 Accord V6 to continue his trip.

So what can cause a modern BMW to overheat at 140k miles?

The Notorious ELECTRIC WATER PUMP!! They ALL fail around 100k miles, right?

A quick code scan confirmed that the Water Pump was indeed "OFFLINE" on the LIN bus.

I ordered a brand new OE-Equivalent pump ($700!!) and installed it...

During the job I noticed something very interesting under the car...

WAIT...did I just Mis-Diagnose this BMW and MISFIRE the PARTS CANNON???
